Bracelet of Treasures

Each treasure bracelet that Tabra makes has hand selected stones, shells, antiques… all from her collections from all over the world – and each piece is set in hand silver by Tabra’s highly trained silversmiths in Bali. This bracelet contains trilobite, Chinese picture writing stones, ammonite, tourmalated quartz, and blue lace agate. Trilobite is over 350 million years old and is an extinct form of marine life, now a slate stone fossil. Originally a many-legged arthropod (critter with a hard shell, segmented body, and jointed legs), it roamed the sandy bottoms of seas and coral reefs, 550 million years ago (mid-Cambrian period). In its natural form, agate is richly striped by nature — often looking like the cross-section of a tree trunk. In ancient times, agate was highly valued as a talisman or amulet. Persian magicians used agate to divert storms. Because of these powers, agate was collected enthusiastically prior to and during the Byzantine Empire. Agate bowl collections were highly regarded by European royalty during the Renaissance, as well. Many European museums ? including the Louvre ? have impressive examples of such collections.
